It's impressive that, despite being the youngest member of the Corps, Tai is already fearless in the face of danger and able to summon up enough willpower to take down one of the toughest Yellow Lanterns with ease. It's like Ask Science, but all questions and answers are written with answers gleaned from the universe itself. Tai jokes that if Arkillo ever joined the Green Lanterns, he would help him design his uniform, showing even more proof that this young Lantern is fearless. He binds Arkillo in a seemingly unending stream of green, making sure Arkillo's body is completely locked down and unable to move, then proudly standing on top of him. Though Arkillo gets a good hit on Tai, his mistake is underestimating his opponent and making fun of his Vietnamese áo dài, calling it a "dress." Tai remembers that his grandmother, a Green Lantern herself, said wearing it made her feel powerful.Ĭlearly, his grandmother's words inspire a great amount of willpower in Tai, as it takes him just one move to restrain Arkillo. So it comes as a shock that Tai is able to defeat him with such ease. As a punishment, Mongul ripped out Arkillo's tongue, forcing Arkillo to talk through his power ring.Īll the punishment that Arkillo can take, and the fact he almost bested Mongul, proves how strong and resilient this Yellow Lantern really is. ![]() With his physical strength alone, Arkillo seemed to dominate the whole battle, however in the end Mongul managed to win. ![]() After this defeat, he challenged Mongul, then leader of the Sinestro Corps, to battle without the use of a power ring. When he went up against Killowog he was able to survive being crushed by an aircraft carrier, on top of having his finger cut off by his Green Lantern counterpart. Unlike Tai Pham who is a newcomer to his Corps, Arkillo has a long and storied history with the Yellow Lanterns. As drill sergeant, Arkillo punishes weaker recruits who failed him by eating them whole, definitely proving he's one of the most merciless members of the Sinestro Corps. Arkillo is essentially the Sinestro Corps version of Kilowog, as both are the drill sergeants for their Corps and large powerhouses even without their signature rings. ![]() The Lantern that Tai faces in "Dress Code" is the fearsome Arkillo, created by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis and first appearing in 2006's Green Lantern #10. ![]()
